If you've never booked a dog photography session before, you might be wondering what the experience is actually like. The good news? It's much more relaxed than most people expect.

My goal is to create beautiful images of your dog while keeping the experience fun, stress-free, and tailored to their personality. Whether your dog is energetic, goofy, shy, or somewhere in between, the session is designed around them.

What happens during a dog photography session?

A dog photography session is all about capturing your dog's unique personality.

We'll meet at an outdoor location, and I'll spend some time getting to know your pup before we start taking photos. There is no expectation that your dog will sit perfectly still or follow commands the entire time. Some of the best images happen in between the posed moments.

During the session, I'll guide your dog through a variety of setups, including portraits, action shots, and natural moments that showcase who they are. We'll take plenty of breaks when needed, and everything moves at your dog's pace.

How long does a dog photography session last?

Most dog photography sessions last about an hour.

That gives us plenty of time for your dog to settle in, explore the location, and capture a variety of images without feeling rushed. Some dogs warm up immediately, while others need a little extra time to feel comfortable, and that's perfectly okay.

The goal isn't to rush through a checklist of poses. It's to create a relaxed experience that allows your dog's personality to shine through.

Do dogs need to be off leash?

No, dogs do not need to be off leash during a dog photography session.

In fact, many of the dogs I photograph stay on leash the entire time. Your dog's safety is always the top priority. Using a leash allows us to work confidently while keeping your dog secure and comfortable.

With a little photography magic, leashes can often be removed from final images, creating a clean, natural look without putting your dog at risk.

Can multiple dogs be photographed together?

Yes, multiple dogs can absolutely be photographed together.

Whether you have two dogs or a whole pack, we'll create images of them together as well as individual portraits of each dog. Every dog has a different personality, and I love highlighting what makes each one special.

When photographing multiple dogs, patience and flexibility go a long way. We keep things fun and relaxed so everyone has a chance to shine.

Can owners be in some of the photos?

Absolutely. Owners are always welcome to be in some of the photos.

While the focus of the session is your dog, I highly encourage stepping in for a few images together. The photos you have with your dog often become some of the most meaningful ones from the entire session.

You don't need to worry about posing or knowing what to do. I'll guide you every step of the way so your images feel natural and genuine.

A dog photography session is about more than beautiful photos. It's about celebrating the bond you share with your dog and preserving memories you'll treasure for years to come.
