“Come on kids! Let’s sit down and look through old photos together. There’s Daddy, Little Bobby, Little Susie, Grandma, Grandpa, and Mom is…hold on…I know I have to be here somewhere. Nope, can’t find one. Maybe I’ll get in the picture next time.”

Sound familiar? Unfortunately, this is a sad reality. We as moms spend our time behind the camera documenting all the important moments-rarely taking the time to get in the photos ourselves. Let’s change that!

Lifestyle photography is the solution. While the possibilities are endless, they can easily be broken down into two categories-outdoor sessions and in-home sessions.

Outdoor session are typically photographed around sunset to take advantage of the gorgeous light that occurs during that time. Locations include parks, lakes, rivers, fields, downtown, or maybe even your own backyard. There are many choices. Lifestyle photography is not posed, but directed. By directing each family member on where to stand or sit and then encouraging them to interact with each other, I am able to capture real, authentic, and emotive moments.

The other lifestyle option is an in-home session. These sessions take place in the comfort of your own home during the morning or afternoon hours. Think of all the things you enjoy doing with your children-snuggling on the bed reading a story, baking cookies, playing games, painting pictures, building with Legos, having a tea party, and the list could go on and on. Wouldn’t you love to have these memories documented so you could look back on them years from now when the kids aren’t so little anymore?

No more excuses for why you can’t find a photo with Mom in it. Get the whole family together and let’s create memorable photos that will be cherished for a lifetime.
